Appointment Pool

John Tonkin College Education Support Centre (JTCESC) is seeking to establish a pool of organised and dedicated Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2024 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2025. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2024 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2025.

Suitable applicants should ideally have prior experience and knowledge in managing challenging behaviours for students with special needs. Extensive experience in the delivery of a variety of tailored programs for special needs students with a focus on numeracy, literacy, life skills and protective behaviours, will be highly regarded. It is desired that the suitable applicants will be able to modify curriculum and make adjustments to meet the student's individual needs which may include students with an Intellectual Disability, Autism or complex behaviours. Furthermore, suitable applicants who possess knowledge, skills and experience in showcasing Music and Visual Arts across the whole school and in the community and have an interest in working with adolescents with special needs will be considered advantageous. Moreover, we value educators who demonstrate highly effective teaching practices, a strong commitment to self-reflection, and a proactive attitude towards continuous self-improvement.

In this role, teachers in an education support environment will have the opportunity to positively lead a team of Education Assistants. Together, they will collaboratively create a safe and nurturing learning environment for our students. We emphasise active engagement with and contribution to the school community. Furthermore, we encourage close collaboration with families, therapists, and external agencies to collectively enhance student outcomes.

JTCESC is Independent Public School located at the Mandurah Education Training (MET) Campus within John Tonkin College (JTC). Our school shares the Peel Campuses of South Metropolitan TAFE (Technical and Further Education) and Murdoch University and delivers a broad range of educational experiences to meet the needs of Year 11 and 12 students with intellectual disabilities.
