Your Opportunity:

The Manager, Pharmacy Services at South Health Campus is a key leadership role and reports directly to the Executive Director, Calgary Zone Pharmacy Services. This position is accountable for the overall performance of pharmacy services in South Health Campus ensuring alignment with Zone/provincial strategies and initiatives and compliance with Alberta College of Pharmacists regulations and standards. This position is responsible and accountable for providing operational leadership and decision making in support of the core businesses of Pharmacy services within Alberta Health Services: Direct patient care, Drug distribution, Education, and practice research. The Manager, Pharmacy Services is also responsible for leadership of pharmacy personnel at their designated site(s). Facilitating and sustaining the learning needs of clinical pharmacists in order to optimize their professional and clinical development. Identifying budget requirements for the site (human, material, and capital resources) to safely meet department and patient needs and optimize the pharmacy workforce on that site. The Manager will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders as required providing optimal and integrated services.

Description:

Relationship Management Aligning with zone and Program direction, influences the direction of key organizational initiatives within designated site/program and creates & builds commitment to the vision of Pharmacy Services. Direct supervisor to site/program pharmacists and/or direct supervision of site operations manager(s) and/or site clerical staff. Leads pharmacy staff in the delivery of patient-focused pharmacy services. Clarifies performance expectations of staff; aligns practice and plans with provincial pharmacy services vision. Change leadership initiates, implements, and supports new or modified approaches, practices, and processes in the organization. Recognizes opportunities for change across the designated site/program. Operational Leadership Delivers on objectives regarding implementation, operationalization, management & monitoring of delivery of Pharmacy Services within designated site/program. Determines and prioritizes pharmacy program delivery on site/program within framework set for the zone and Provincial Pharmacy Services. Provides operational leadership to site Operations Manager(s) and staff in the planning, delivery & evaluation of Pharmacy clinical programs & overall pharmacy services within designated site/program. Strategic Planning Participates in the development and accountable for the implementation & evaluation of overall strategic & operational plans to support patient focused care programs & delivery within designated site/program. Resource Management Plans & determines allocation of resources, authorizes & controls expenditures & is accountable for managing resources, including the strategic use of human resources within designated site/program. Risk Management Promotes an environment that fosters quality improvement & a culture of safety for staff & patients.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of Baccalaureate degree in Pharmacy, and eligible or registered with the Alberta College of Pharmacists. A minimum of 3-5 years in a hospital/institutional pharmacy role ideally in an organization of similar size, complexity, and diversity. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development.
