Purpose

Contributes to the overall success of the Confirmation Operations Technology within GCM Engineering ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives.  Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, and procedures.

 

Accountabilities

  • Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems, and knowledge.
  • Contribute to the operational effectiveness and productivity of the Global Wholesale Operations units by conceptualizing, evaluating, recommending, and implementing new systems, equipment and procedures identified via user requirements, documentation/reviews and input received from Global Wholesale Operations staff and clients.
  • This includes analyzing the impact new systems will have on the various departments, liaising with users, developing non-standard procedures wherever necessary to adapt new systems and completion of other duties as assigned.
  • Administer and document internally and externally system initiated projects and SSRs, Problem Logs, Emergency Change Requests, Project Work Orders, WMSD Intake requests and general system changes including documentation of user requirements, review of design documents, monitoring of schedules and costs and  procedural documentation.  This includes providing specialized, departmental training relative to new systems/industry changes and for planning, designing and implementing training programs to meet those needs.
  • Manage multiple small system projects and assist in large system initiatives/enhancements concurrently, preparing technical specifications, code documentation, project planning, developing code and test cases for DEV and IST testing using prescribed tools/formats (e.g. XRay), conversion and implementation strategies, developing detailed project plans, preparing procedural documentation, securing consensus and co-operation from users and senior management. Maintain timely and meaningful status update in department management tools and project / information portals (e.g. Service Now, CAPPM, Sharepoint, JIRA, Confluence).
  • Provide development and support of applications to various business lines using C# .NET and related technologies. In addition to technical analysis, the incumbent will also use analytical and problem solving where necessary to ensure proper operations of applications.
  • Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.

Skills and Experience

 

  • 5+ years technical work experience (C#, .NET, IIS, SQL, PowerShell, Windows Server, Dev-Ops)
  • 5+ years’ experience designing patterns and Object Orient Design concepts.
  • Solid understanding of SQL programing preferably with MSSQL experience (minimum 5 years’ experience)
  • Recent Experience in utilizing Source Control & Build Tools, like Azure DevOps, GIT etc.
  • Expert in SQL scripting 
  • MS Visual Studio 
  • Streaming Architecture knowledge and awareness of related publishing tools (Kafka, Elasticsearch)

 

Functional Skills

  • Core technical analysis skills (problem analysis, Agile and waterfall functional specs, traceability matrix, technical documentation, etc.) 
  • Core project delivery skills. 
  • Strong investigative, analytical, and problem-solving ability to recommend solutions in the absence of established precedents. 
  • Strong Customer focused and Results focused attitude
  • Able to multi-task and to adjust and adapt to changing priorities and tight deadlines.

 

Preferred experience

  • 3 years of financial services industry experience, especially capital markets supporting Operations functions (confirmations, settlements, funding, reconciliations, asset servicing, collateral management or other).
  • Good understanding of the principles of project management and Bank's Enterprise Delivery Framework (EDF)
