Reporting to the Manager of Capital Markets Financial Reporting, this role will support the investment accounting and financial reporting functions for OMERS Capital Markets’ business units. Additionally, this role will prepare and submit Capital Markets financial information to Corporate Finance for financial statement consolidation.
This role involves collaboration with various teams and individuals across our global enterprise. The incumbent will demonstrate expertise in accounting, investment management, financial reporting and internal controls, financial system literacy and team leadership. They will contribute expertise, a desire to build a team community, and an eagerness to develop a winning culture.
**As a member of this team, you will be responsible for**:
Month-end Oracle Cloud close processes for OMERS Capital Markets (Global Credit, Global Equities, and Global Multi-Asset Strategies)
Reconciliation of financial data across different systems used by OMERS Capital Markets
Preparing monthly financial results of OMERS Capital Markets business units, including but not limited to key notes and disclosures of Investments Asset, Investment Liabilities, Net Investment Income, Derivatives, etc.
Ensuring Capital Markets financial information is accurate and consistent with other disclosed information.
Developing a broad understanding of OMERS Capital Markets business topics and their impact on OMERS overall financial results.
Collaborate with various Capital Markets Finance and as well as other OMERS stakeholders
Maintaining, documenting, and continuously improving strong internal controls within Capital Markets Finance
Addressing accounting and financial control special projects as required.
**To succeed in this role, you have**:
Post-secondary degree in business, accounting, or finance, currently pursuing a CPA designation
A dedication to accuracy and timeliness
Demonstrated accounting experience related to fixed income and derivative products.
Understanding of IFRS accounting standards (IFRS 9 and 13)
An interest and understanding of complex financial instruments.
Good written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate across different levels within, as well as outside the organization
Proven problem-solving abilities and the ability to work well under pressure and in an environment of multiple, changing requirements.
Experience with operational improvement and establishing efficient processes.
Good level skills using Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word
Self-starter with strong problem-solving abilities who works well under pressure and in an environment of changing requirements.
