:This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated self-starter with a desire to make a significant contribution to our Claims Department. This position will be responsible for the oversight and performance management of the Automobile Physical Damage (APD), Auto Appraisal and Property claims team.
The Assistant Director, Physical Damage Claims will report to the Senior Director of Claims at Unica. The successful candidate will work diligently ensuring alignment and compliance with regulations, policies and processes, compliance with legislative and regulatory bodies and the various initiatives from Corporate Office as it would apply to Ontario.
Summary of Role & Responsibilities:
Lead, develop and manage the Physical Damage claims team to provide best in class service and achieve KPIs Actively participate in claims initiatives and continuous process improvements (Guidewire, NPS, call center, after-hours program, estimating platforms) Provide instruction and direction within authority to adjusting staff on settlements with insureds, third parties, and lawyers. Respond to and resolve complaints from insureds and brokers. Assist adjusters to prepare Major Loss/Reinsurance Reports and participate in the Claims Committee process. Perform file audits and provide feedback on team performance, areas for improvement and develop corrective measures where necessary. Review results and submit reports with respect to loss and claims trends Support, develop and deliver performance assessments (PAW) for employees. Assist in the recruitment and management of new hires. Participate in ensuring our compliance with IBC, FSRA, other government bodies and regulations. Represent the company at corporate and industry eventsNecessary Knowledge, Skills and Attributes:
Strong working knowledge of claims estimating software and vendor management systems. Experience working in a call center environment Knowledge of regulatory and contractual obligations, including reinsurance reporting Strong verbal and written communication skills Strong working knowledge of MS Windows and/or XP (Word, Excel & Outlook). Detailed oriented and well-organized professional, with analytical decision-making aptitude and ability to execute plans Proven multi-tasker, with the ability to deal with deadline pressures. Ability and desire to coach and mentor adjustersEducation and Experience:
10+ years of physical damage claims experience with a solid background in both commercial and personal lines 5+ years of related claims experience at the leadership level with direct reports University or College degree Enrollment in or completion of the CIP (FCIP) Designation Bilingual (French-English) preferred#LI-ENG
