Your Opportunity:

It is an exciting time to join our Human Resources team at Alberta Health Services (AHS) as we work together to empower our employees and establish a culture where our people feel safe, healthy and valued. This is the opportunity to work with some of the best HR professionals in Canada with the country’s largest and most progressive health authority. Human Resources Business Partnerships (HRBP) Team is excited to offer a permanent HR Advisor position within the North Zone of AHS. Interested in relocating to Alberta? Come live, work, and play in our province rich with beautiful landscapes, diverse culture and communities, and economic opportunities. As the HRBP team operates in a hybrid working environment, the successful candidate must be able to attend to their client sites and ideally reside with easy accessibility to the North Zone. We seek individuals with HR Advisor or generalist experience to be responsible for providing proactive HR consultation, recommendations, and services to AHS leaders. You will work with a high degree of independence and in collaboration with HR Specialists and Centres of Expertise to plan and implement HR processes that complement related policies, legislation, and collective agreements. AHS currently has a Northern Incentive Program in place for communities above the 55th parallel. Depending on where the successful applicant resides, you may qualify for a Northern Incentive.

Description:

The HR Advisor works to ensure AHS and HR values, goals and principles are implemented and integrated in the delivery of HR services for all AHS leaders, employees, physicians and volunteers. The successful candidate will support clients by advising, coordinating, coaching and providing recommendations on a variety of human resource functions and related operations. AHS consists of a 90% unionized and 10% non-union employee workforce, so you will need to be familiar with processes for both employee groups. You will have a strong understanding of employee and labor relations; performance management; ability management; grievance management; and interpretation of collective agreements. You will also provide consultation on talent management, job classification and compensation in addition to other related HR tasks, duties and responsibilities. In order to be effective in this role, you will have a proven track record of fostering and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with team members, operational leaders, HR networks, Centers of Expertise, and Union representatives. You are adaptable with the ability to prioritize, multitask while working effectively independently in collaboration with others in a fast paced and progressive environment. You will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests including engagement of HR specialists as required.
