**Advisor, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion**

**Waterloo Regional Police Service**

The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) requires an **Advisor, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion**. **The WRPS delivers exceptional police services to its residents. The Waterloo Region is a vital and prosperous community in Southern Ontario that offers the unique combination of a growing urban centre surrounded by four rural communities. As the **Advisor, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion**

**You Will**:

- Partner with members to understand the immediate and ongoing diversity needs at all levels of the organization;
- Collaborate with Human Resources to provide a diversity and inclusion lens to the design and implementation of an organizational outreach strategy framework for attracting, engaging, and developing a diverse workforce and work closely with key stakeholders to evolve this strategy;
- Support the recruitment of diverse talent by assisting in the development of active talent pipelines for key roles utilizing a range of talent sourcing channels including social media platforms, learning initiatives (e.g. cooperative education programs), hiring events, partnerships and other strategic alliances;
- Proactively identify opportunities to increase members from under-represented groups at all levels of the organization;
- Engage work units and appropriate leadership within those units, to consult, develop, execute and evaluate diversity and inclusion plans and initiatives based on key performance indicators;
- Provide informed advice, support and recommendations related to employment equity, intercultural communication, diversity and inclusion to senior leadership and members;
- Foster inclusive leadership, collaboration, and innovation; eliminate hidden and systemic barriers to success within the Service;
- Review and evaluate systemic practices and processes that may be discriminatory and provide direction and advice to senior leadership and members on eliminating barriers that result in differential treatment, marginalization, discrimination and/or harassment;
- Increase member awareness and understanding of systemic discrimination by designing and delivering diversity and inclusivity workshops, and workplace training and education presentations;
- In collaboration with the Manager, participate in the annual diversity and inclusion accountability process and provide updates to senior leadership and the Waterloo Regional Police Services Board on an annual basis;
- Conduct research and provide insight on diversity and inclusion to support and facilitate change management initiatives, learning, and communication strategies;
- Track and monitor the progress and overall effectiveness of all diversity and inclusion programs, initiatives, and processes;
- Support, coordinate and oversee the implementation of the WRPS Equity, Diversity & Inclusion Plan, and WRPS Ambassador Program;
- Develop, evaluate and maintain relationships with key community partners to continue to promote equity, diversity and inclusion;
- Represents the Service at various cultural and community engagements as required;
- Supports the Truth and Reconciliation Commission through the implementation of Calls to Action, and Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) Calls to Justice; and
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

**You Have**:

- Demonstrated knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion principles;
- Successful completion of a University degree in Social Science or a related field with additional specialization in equity matters;
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of progressive experience working with individuals, larger groups, external organizations, and communities to implement, improve, or support diversity and inclusion initiatives;
- Demonstrated experience in implementing equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) educational programming, training, and education
- Demonstrated ability to lead and promote complex diversity and inclusion initiatives preferably in large organizations or the public sector
- Excellent communication and writing skills to prepare reports and briefing notes, policies and administrative processes, and guides, newsletters, etc.
- Presentation skills to deliver training, educational and information sessions.
- Stakeholder management, partnership and relationship building skills to initiate and nurture strong working relationships with Members and community.
- Facilitation skills, conflict resolution skills, to fairly and effectively assess and manage and assist with concerns that may arise.
