Your Opportunity:
As a member of the Rural Addiction and Mental Health (RAMH) team and reporting to the Manager, the community liaison worker will provide services to clients seeking mental health assistance in the community of Okotoks and the surrounding area. This position will provide one-to-one support to clients of mental health services in a variety of community settings according to the client's treatment plan. The position will focus on assistance with service coordination and collaboration of additional support/resource modelling in a variety of community settings following the client-centred approach proposed by the Canadian Council of Health Services Accreditation. This position is also responsible for developing and delivering psychoeducational workshops on various mental health topics. A working knowledge of mental health issues of addictions, suicide, domestic abuse and psychiatric disorders is required. The ability to engage and work with a diverse client population is essential. Good interpersonal skills, flexibility and an ability to work independently are essential. A good working knowledge of community agencies and programs is an asset.
Description:
As a Community Liaison Worker (CLW), you will provide services to clients seeking Mental Health assistance. You will provide one-to-one support to a diverse client population in a variety of Mental Health settings according to the client's individual service plan, and/or treatment plan in accordance with the client-centered approach. You will participate in assessments to determine access barriers and the support needs for clients accessing Mental health services.You will focus on assistance with collaboration and service coordination with additional support/resource modeling in a variety of settings. A working knowledge of mental health issues is required.
Required Qualifications:Completion of bachelor's degree in a health related field. Active or eligible for registration with applicable professional association or college. Minimum two years' experience working within Mental Health. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS - HCP). Possession of a valid driver's licence and access to a motor vehicle in good repair for work-related travel.
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working with a multidisciplinary team and community agencies. Experience with evaluation and report writing. Specific knowledge of mental health services and community resources. Experience in inter-professional and multi-site collaboration. The ability to engage and work with a diverse client population is essential. Solid knowledge foundation of intervention and treatment modalities relevant to suicide, addiction, family violence and psychiatric disorders. Comprehensive knowledge of relevant community resources and legislation. High degree of creativity and flexibility as well as the ability to work independently in an outreach capacity. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, high level of interpersonal skills. Ability to set priorities and organize time effectively. Ability to work in stressful, demanding and changing conditions. Ability to work collaboratively as part of several multidisciplinary teams.
Preferred Qualifications:Two years experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs is preferred. Recent mental health or related experience is required, community experience is preferred. A minimum of two years’ experience working with individuals with complex mental health needs is preferred.
