Director, Strategic Planning, Analysis and Reporting

The Director designs and implements a centre-wide service model and sustainability plan that aligns with the strategy and goals of Lethbridge College. This includes representing the centre on appropriate boards, committees and working groups at various levels, internal and external to the institution.
Specific Accountabilities Strategic Planning: Lead the development, implementation, and revision of the College’s strategic framework. Facilitate the development of institutional objectives and plans in alignment with the strategic imperatives. Guide strategic and operational planning and engagement processes. Engage with departmental leaders to ensure their plans align with the College’s overarching strategic framework and operational priorities. Innovation and Future-Planning: Proactively engage with the latest developments in educational technology, pedagogical research, and global higher education trends. Anticipate future trends and challenges in higher education, using scenario planning and foresight methodologies to inform strategic decision-making and ensure the College remains adaptive and forward-looking. Process Management: Utilize advanced data analysis tools and methodologies to streamline the tracking and evaluation of progress on institutional priorities. Leadership and Collaboration: Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement, encouraging interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing across the College. Collaborate cross-functionally within the College to ensure the successful and innovative execution of approved strategies; bring together multiple stakeholders and help drive data-informed decisions. Provide leadership and oversight of strategic research activities at the college; collecting data on the performance of the College and coordinating with all departments to analyze results. Data Governance, Analysis, and Decision Support: Employ cutting-edge data analysis tools and techniques to derive actionable insights, ensuring decisions are based on comprehensive, data-driven evidence. Responsible for determining and developing strategies and frameworks for the effective collection, analysis, governance, and dissemination of data across various audiences and stakeholders. This role encompasses not only the analysis of data but also the stewardship and governance of data assets to ensure accuracy, privacy, and security, thereby supporting informed and responsible institutional decision-making. Reporting and Communication: Develop and execute effective communication strategies that enhance transparency and engage internal and external stakeholders in the strategic process. Facilitate assessments of the performance and outcome of initiatives for the purpose of learning to embed the strengths or understand changes required for future opportunities. Ensure accurate and timely reporting of performance metrics, strategic outcomes, and compliance with regulatory requirements including Annual Report content in collaboration with the Marketing & Communications department. Performance Management: Align individual and departmental performance metrics with the College’s strategic objectives to ensure cohesive progress towards institutional goals. Develop and maintain a performance management framework to track progress against strategic imperatives. Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning and introduction of new programs and strategies. Identify performance gaps and recommend corrective actions. Risk Management: Anticipate potential challenges and risks associated with strategic initiatives and support the development of proactive mitigation plans. Financial Management: Solid understanding of the institution’s financial model and able to determine financial impact of operational performance and proposed initiatives. Required Qualifications A degree in post-secondary studies, business, or related area with an emphasis on planning, research, data science and or/business management. Minimum of five (5) years of related professional work experience preferably in a post-secondary environment at a management level position with a focus on institutional and strategic planning, research, assessment and evaluation, reporting, and leadership. Proven ability to think strategically, develop a vision, and translate it into actionable plans. Strong project management skills with a track record of successfully leading and delivering complex initiatives. Proficiency in data analysis and the ability to use data to inform decision-making. Demonstrated leadership skills, including the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams. Experience working in and leading diverse teams where empowerment, support, communication, and inclusion are integral values. Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to present complex information to diverse audiences. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and manage ambiguity. A forward-thinking mindset with the ability to anticipate future opportunities and challenges. A commitment to achieving measurable results and a track record of success in driving an organization forward.
