Data Scientist Track Evaluation

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES

Develop new business rules based on image data analysis, key findings, and root causes Develop and produce machine vision algorithms to identify safety defects on railway structure Support case developments for new technology purchases and/or process integrations based on data analysis results to improve railway safety and efficiency Propose new processes and technologies to improve investigation data retrieval and processing capabilities Define requirements and work with IT staff to incorporate all technological changes Control and filter access to Track Systems Data requests Pull data queries including derailment information Performs periodic quality inspection reviews of the TEC output to ensure the quality and reliability of the data Develop/Publish Rail Profile Plots / Reports for Capital Planning Provide vacation relief within Track Geometry group

POSTION REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in engineering/computer science from an accredited university OR 5 years of railway experience in Engineering Services Experience implementing data mining and machine learning concepts OR evidence of project work in school in artificial intelligence fields Experience with AWS and/or other cloud providers Experience with applying machine learning modelling to image data Experience in Data analysis and the ability to draw conclusions and communicate results, Prior exposure to Geometry Brush Charts (WinDBC, ARIES, GEOEdit, RailEdit) Exceptional communication skills for multiple audiences with diverse levels of experience May require compiling data records/request outside of normal business hours Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s permit Valid passport, ability to travel to US/CAN without restrictions
