Position Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement data-driven business rules to enhance railway safety and efficiency.
  • Design and develop machine vision algorithms to identify safety defects on railway structures.
  • Support case developments for new technology purchases and process integrations based on data analysis results.
  • Propose new processes and technologies to improve investigation data retrieval and processing capabilities.
  • Define requirements and work with IT staff to incorporate technological changes.
  • Control and filter access to Track Systems Data requests.
  • Pull data queries including derailment information.
  • Perform periodic quality inspection reviews of TEC output to ensure data quality and reliability.
  • Develop and publish Rail Profile Plots/Reports for Capital Planning.
  • Provide vacation relief within Track Geometry group.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering/computer science from an accredited university or 5 years of railway experience in Engineering Services.
  • Experience implementing data mining and machine learning concepts or evidence of project work in artificial intelligence fields.
  • Experience with AWS and/or other cloud providers.
  • Experience applying machine learning modeling to image data.
  • Experience in data analysis and ability to draw conclusions and communicate results.
  • Prior exposure to Geometry Brush Charts (WinDBC, ARIES, GEOEdit, RailEdit).
  • Exceptional communication skills for multiple audiences with diverse levels of experience.
  • May require compiling data records/request outside of normal business hours.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver's permit.
  • Valid passport, ability to travel to US/CAN without restrictions.
