Job Summary

Reporting to the Principal Investigator, the Research Assistant will assist in the planning, promotion, and facilitation of a series of events promoting death and grief literacy in Nova Scotia. The Research Assistant will contribute to a research program on death and grief literacy.

Key Responsibilities

· Work closely with an event team to plan, promote, and facilitate events (especially in the Halifax Regional Municipality – HRM).

· Assist event hosts, volunteers, and attendees as needed; Assist in building a support network between the event hosts and the community; Supervise and assist in the setup and breakdown of events.

· Assist with research administration, project coordination, data generation, and data management.

· Liaise with community organizations and study participants recruitment, reimbursements, honoraria).

· Facilitate research interviews and focus groups; Transcribe, code, and perform analysis of qualitative data.

Note

· The successful applicant will primarily work remotely, with occasional presence in-person on-campus to meet client needs and operational requirements. Occasional work on evenings and weekends. Availability to be on-site in Halifax, Nova Scotia from September 10 to 30, 2024.

Required Qualifications

· Completed or currently enrolled in a post-secondary Social Science or Health Science degree with two years of related research experience in palliative care, or death/grief studies.

· Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, internet, and social media.

· Excellent verbal and written communication to draft, format, and edit office correspondence.

· Ability to analyze information, with effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.

· Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills.

· Ability to work independently as well as within a multi-disciplinary team environment.

TCPS2: CORE Certification not required initially but may be requested.
