Your Responsibilities as a Technician - Building Projects
- Provide Project Cost Estimates - We typically help customers with small projects like kitchen or bathroom remodeling, home renovations and other exterior/interior projects. You will help provide cost estimates for projects assigned to you, based on labor-hours and materials consumption.
- Independently Complete Projects Assigned to You – You’ll be undertaking building projects that are assigned to you and see to their completion in manners that meet or exceed customers' expectations. These are small residential and commercial projects typically range from two hours to two weeks.
- Making Recommendations and Managing Expectations with Customers – You’ll communicate with customers to help them understand the scope of work and manage expectations about any unforeseeable changes.
- Create Life-Long Customers – Deliver a great experience that wows life-long repeat customers. You will follow the Mr. Handyman Way - a repeatable process that makes it easy to wow the customer every time.
How We’ll Measure Performance
Here are some of the ways that we’ll measure your performance in the role.
- Customer Satisfaction (NPS) – For every job, we shall encourage customers to complete a survey to rate their satisfaction with our service. You’ll need both a high response rate and high satisfaction rate.
- Revenue Target – Our office gets you in the door and it’s your job to stay there and find additional ways to be of service to the customer.
- Effective Billing Rate – It’s your responsibility to invoice appropriately, source any needed materials, and collect payment from the customer.
- Recall Percentage – We guarantee all our work for one year. The work needs to be done right the first time.
To Succeed in this Role
- You will have 10+ years of experience working independently on small projects such as kitchen, bathroom, small reno, exterior building etc.
- You will be able to effectively procure all materials necessary for completing the project
- You’ll need to communicate with customers about project status, able to explain when change of scope is needed due to unforeseeable circumstances and get customers' approval.
- You will ask for customer feedback and collect payments.
- You'll need to document the job following the Company's standard process.
- You will follow good housekeeping practices to make sure the customer's property are tidy and clean during and after the project.
- You’ll have the knowledge about use of PPE as well as booties to protect yourself and the people around you.
Job Requirements
These are the minimum requirements to be considered for this position.
- Live within the area
- Have 10+ years’ experience in completing small projects for paid customers
- Own your own tools
- Be insurable for driving our vehicle
- Complete a background and driving record check
- Able to lift 50 pounds independently
- Able to safely work at heights and work overtime as and when needed
- Professional appearance and maintenance of company-provided vehicle
As an experienced building technician, you have strong proficiency in most of the following:
- Carpentry work
- Bathroom improvements
- Kitchen improvements
- Painting, both inside and out
- Drywall work, minor and major repairs
- General plumbing and electrical, where allowed by law
- Floor installation and refurbishing
- Familiar with building codes
Benefits & Pay
Compensation is based on billable hours of your works and bonus. The expected pay range for this position is $70,000 to $100,000 and is dependent on the breadth abd depth of your technical and customer skills.
The ompnay will also pay a 4% vacation allowance and match your CPP and EI conributions as required by the laws.
