Role Overview:
Arcadis is seeking a Hazardous Building Materials Field Technician to join our team in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area), Ontario. As a Hazardous Building Materials Field Technician, you will assist project managers with assessment, design, and oversight of hazardous materials abatement projects. This is a great opportunity to work with subject matter experts in this field, providing training and mentorship to build a unique skill set for your career progression. Hybrid opportunity with ability to travel to site as required (70% field work).
The Hazardous Building Materials Field Technician will sit within the larger Global Resilience Business Area. We work to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations. Around the world, we are seeing the effects of climate change, rapid urbanization, and loss of biodiversity. The rate at which we are seeing large-scale, unforeseen events such as floods and wildfires, is becoming more frequent. We are here to protect our natural environment and water resources, while powering our world for future generations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct site investigations for hazardous materials including asbestos, lead, mould, etc.
- Conduct indoor air quality assessments, noise assessments, radon monitoring, and worker exposure assessments
- Completion of designated substance surveys
- Manage field notes and prepare technical reports
- Availability to work some evenings and/or weekends
- Valid driver's license required as this role will require travel to site
Requirements:
- Technical Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Environmental Science, Building Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Occupational Health and Safety, Construction-related field or related field preferred.
- 3+ years practical experience conducting designated substance surveys and abatement monitoring.
