Requirements and Nature of Work:

Required skills: aptitude for and interest in mathematical research and specifically, in mathematical writing; research experience in graph theory; MAT 3348 and MAT 4348 or equivalent with a grade of at least A.

The successful candidate will work with Prof. Mateja Šajna on a project in discrete mathematics, more specifically, on a graph-theoretic approach to designing statistical questionnaires. The student will be joining the project in its later stages; their tasks will be
(1) to review the existing literature on questionnaire design, and write a short survey; and
(2) to design a concrete questionnaire to be used as an illustration of the methods and results of the project.
