We want YOU to join our team We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Fulltime Junior Sous Chef.  You will assist in supervising and executing food production for all food outlets; including banquet events and other functions at Islington Golf Club. You will also supervise food production personnel, assist with food production tasks and assure that quality and cost standards are consistently attained.

Islington Golf Club is a private club founded in 1923, during the "Golden Age" of golf course construction. In 2019, we were awarded Club of the Year by the Canadian Managers Association of Canada. In 2022, we were privileged to host the practice facilities for the RBC Canadian Open. In 2023, we celebrated our 100th anniversary

What you bring:

  • Experience in a Private Club environment- an asset
  • Minimum 3 years in a Senior Cook role
  • Completion of Post-secondary Hospitality Degree or Equivalent
  • Red Seal or Equivalent- an asset
  • Strong organizational, leadership and communication skills
  • Flexible work schedule that includes nights, weekends and holidays
  • Ability to work under pressure, maintaining composure
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • A passion for food, beverage and service is a must

What you will do:

  • Assist Executive Chef with monthly inventories, pricing, cost controls, requisitioning and issuing for food production
  • Prepare/directly supervise kitchen staff responsible for the daily preparation of: soups, sauces and “specials” to ensure that methods of cooking, garnishing and portion sizes are as prescribed by standardized recipes
  • Execute, guide and assist in all preparation of line mise en place and production
  • Assume responsibility of the kitchen in the absence of the Sous Chef, Executive Sous Chef or Executive Chef
  • Assist Executive Chef in supervising and training employees, enforcing sanitation and safety practices, and menu planning
  • Maintain high standards of quality, cost, visual appeal and flavor of foods
  • Consults with dining service personnel during daily line-ups
  • Assist with new culinary team onboarding
  • Assist in food procurement, delivery, storage and issuing of food items
  • Submit ideas for future goals, operational improvements, and personnel management to Executive Chef
  • Assist in ordering when there are shortages, ensuring ordering principals are upheld
  • Completes other tasks or duties as required
