The liaises with the offshore Production Supervisor, offshore Operations Group and onshore Baker Hughes Chemicals Contract Representative (Account Manager) to support the application and optimization of production chemicals and to conduct environmental compliance monitoring and process sampling and analysis as required to support the operation.
 

As an Offshore Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for:

Monitor & troubleshoot the crude separation and produced water treatment systems to ensure crude oil specifications are maintained & overboard effluent discharges remain within regulatory requirements. 

Provide day to day process system optimization and production enhancement recommendations to the Production Supervisor and offshore Operations Group. 

Generate & maintain offshore environmental compliance monitoring records. Submit monthly environmental compliance reports, via the Production Supervisor, to the Regulatory Board.

Manage offshore process chemical inventories and day to day transportation logistics. Liaison with onshore Baker Petrolite warehouse personnel to ensure uninterrupted supply to the Platform.

Decanting offshore chemical tote tanks into platform or FPSO storage tanks and back loading empty chemical tanks (if required by facility operator).

Managing all aspects of the Platform Process Lab including, equipment calibration, procurement of laboratory instruments & supplies, and the maintenance of analytical records & procedures. 

Sampling and laboratory analysis for normal production operations, verification of process analyzers and regulatory compliance. Sampling and laboratory analysis for ad-hoc operations and troubleshooting as directed by the Production Supervisor.

Comply with safe work practices and procedures. Active participation in safety drills, OH&S meetings and safety initiatives. Emergency Response Team participation as designated by the Production Supervisor 

Full compliance with offshore Safety, Health & Environmental Management Policies and Systems

To be successful in this role you will:

University degree or relevant Technical Diploma and 3 to 5 years experience in petroleum processing industry.

Be a self-starter, proactively taking the initiative to solving problems and providing resolutions

Previous laboratory, direct chemical sales/ service and/or offshore work experience along with Basic Survival Training would be considered an asset

Certifications in these: CAPP Medical, Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S Alive Training), Basic First Aid, Offshore Safety & Regulatory Awareness Training, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information Systems
