The Opportunity

The VP of eCommerce will design and execute an enterprise-level eCommerce strategy that will enhance the overall digital Customer Experience (CX), ultimately driving revenue growth for both banners. Based full-time at our Client’s Canadian head office in Winnipeg, MB, the VP of eCommerce will have full P&L accountability for the eCommerce business, leading a team to create a flawless customer journey (UX) throughout the eCommerce platform (SalesForce). An integral part of the Marketing executive team, the successful candidate will be a highly collaborative and analytical leader, with a deep understanding of current trends and tools that has previously supported them in successfully scaling an eCommerce business.

Please note, Relocation support to Winnipeg, MB will be provided for qualified candidates who presently reside elsewhere within Canada.

Required Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field
  • 10+ years of eCommerce experience is a must with a proven record of effecting change
  • 3+ years of experience in a senior leadership role is required. Director level or above
  • Specific experience in Apparel is strongly preferred, but not required
  • Previous direct management of an eCommerce P&L north of $20M
  • Comprehensive, technical understanding of digital marketing and eCommerce platforms
  • Demonstrated success in customer experience optimization resulting in overall revenue growth
  • Strong analytical skills with the proven ability to translate data into actionable items
  • Collaborative leadership approach with demonstrated ability to manage cross-functional teams
  • Exceptional communication skills and proven capability to manage deadlines, solve problems and make fast, informed decisions
  • Proven ability to develop a team while innovating new organizational goals and processes
  • Demonstrated capability in balancing short-term goals and long-term vision to effectively align with brand objectives
  • Strong critical thinking skills with demonstrated excellence in strategic planning, execution and continuous optimization

Responsibilities of the Position

STRATEGY
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive eCommerce strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives
  • Identify and capitalize on emerging eCommerce trends and technologies to maintain a competitive edge
  • Drive revenue growth through innovative online sales strategies, digital marketing initiatives, and strategic partnerships
  • Set ambitious revenue targets and develop actionable plans to achieve and exceed them
OPERATIONS
  • Oversee the enhancement of the online shopping experience, focusing on usability, personalization, and customer engagement
  • Utilize customer data and analytics to optimize the user journey and increase customer retention
  • Evaluate and select appropriate eCommerce platforms and technologies to support business goals
  • Collaborate with IT and development teams to implement new features, functionalities, and integrations
  • Utilize data analytics tools to gather insights into customer behavior, sales trends, and website performance
  • Leverage data-driven insights to make informed decisions and optimize the eCommerce ecosystem
LEADERSHIP
  • Build and lead a high-performing eCommerce team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and excellence
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members
  • Forge strategic partnerships with external vendors, agencies, and technology providers to enhance the eCommerce infrastructure
  • Negotiate contracts, manage vendor relationships, and ensure deliverables are met on time and within budget
  • Lead digital marketing efforts, including SEO, SEM, social media, and email marketing, to drive traffic and conversions
  • Work closely with the marketing team to ensure cohesive branding and messaging across all digital channels
