Primary Objectives

You will engage our guests with integrity and passion by providing exceptional guest service. You exhibit professional leadership characteristics, interact with guests in an upbeat, positive and friendly manner while providing an experience that is educational and exhilarating.

Demonstrate technical mastery of all ZipTour equipment, rigging and course infrastructure.

Hours are variable and include evenings and weekends. Guides usually work two to three trips a day, with three trips being the maximum. All shifts are subject to demand, confirmed either the evening prior. Based on interest and skill set, additional work may be available in other areas of the resort.

Specific:

Read and completely understand the ZipTour operations manual for all equipment systems utilized. Understand and utilize all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and cultivate a positive culture around PPE usage. Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the maintenance needs and overall concept of the design function of the ZipTour ride system. Understand all rescue procedures and be ready to coordinate any rescue effort. Conduct and document daily, weekly, and seasonal staff meetings and trainings in the absence of the Supervisor. Assist Supervisor in completing daily follow-up pass-offs for daily and weekly training. Obtain necessary signatures and correctly file all paperwork. Complete daily opening and closing procedures of ZipTour course, including daily tower, line and gear inspections. Monitor weather conditions and coordinate evacuating guests during weather closures. Perform all other ZipTour tasks and act as Guide when needed. Handle multiple tasks and be creative and motivated. Meet and establish a rapport with each guest. Be a good steward of the mountain ensuring waste is properly disposed of. Assist the Supervisor in training new employees, ensuring they have all the tools they need to be able to provide exceptional guest service. Assist in the daily supervision of guides and reservation agents, acting as their go-to in the absence of the Supervisor. Function as an on-floor point of contact for all frontline staff, assisting with questions as well as guest, ZipTour and retail-related issues.  Delegate and/or perform general janitorial duties as needed. Maintain appropriate staffing levels to achieve budgeted results and adjust to business volumes as needed while ensuring guests are being served quickly and efficiently. Assist the Supervisor in the creation and maintenance of the staff schedule for all ZipTour Guides, Reservation Agents and Lead Hands, adjusting as needed. Communicate and liaise with the Supervisors for guest service issues and/or ZipTour-related questions. Deal with monetary tasks/issues such as ensuring all cash outs are correct and submitted, collect change when required as well as record and report all Cash Room-related concerns to the Supervisor. Maintain proper inventory of stationary, gift cards, maps/pamphlets and retail stock. Monitor the ZipTour email and phones lines; return messages, provide answers to guest inquiries, book tours, etc. Provide regular and timely feedback to team members. Proficiently use the POS system, Siriusware, to process all sales and complete payment Perform additional duties such as assisting in other departments as and when needed. Be prepared to switch location with little notice depending on guest volume and weather.

General:
 This is a basic outline of day-to-day responsibilities. Adjustments will be made if necessary, to reflect the needs and expectations of the Mt. Washington Alpine Resort management team:

Be the ‘face’ of the resort and a point of contact for guests. Develop a comprehensive knowledge of in-house departments and products. Promote employee carpooling. Act as an ambassador for Mount Washington and the Industry as a whole. Assist in other department operations when required. Maintaining the cleanliness of the staff locker room.

expectations:

Minimum 18 years of age. Successful completion of the Mt. Washington Ride Supervisor and Rescue training programs. 2+ years of experience working in adventure tourism or hospitality, preferably in a Lead role. Must be adventurous, comfortable with heights, and competent in performing emergency procedures. Excellent people skills – competent, friendly, and upbeat. Organized, responsible, dependable, self-motivated, and attentive to detail. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions. Be quick to learn and self-motivate as well as possess the ability to multitask in a very fast-paced environment. Schedule flexibility a definite asset. Must be available evenings, weekends and holidays. Must be a team player and able to work without supervision. Strong guest service skills are a requirement. Ability to maintain a physical position that requires grasping, standing, repetitive motions, lifting, listening as well as hearing ability, and visual acuity. Excellent leadership skills. First Aid certification is an asset. Previous experience leading groups, public speaking, or guiding Experience working at heights, understanding the concept of mandatory safety at heights.
