Senior QA Specialist
  • Contract Duration 12 Months


Job Responsibilities:

  • Senior QA Specialist participates in business requirements walkthroughs before being promoted into production
  • Perform assigned system, iteration, acceptance, regression, volume, performance, post-implementation, and/or user acceptance testing tasks
  • Analyze business requirements documentation including Use Cases and non-functional requirements.
  • Contribute to the testing strategy and create systems test plans and test suites (including test cases).
  • Analyze test data requirements and create appropriate test data to support the test strategy.
  • Verify actual results meet expected results. Examine test databases using SQL. Analyze and log test results. Document and monitor the resolution of system variances using an automated problem management system.
  • Provide recommendations to the Project Manager as to the acceptance or rejection of any changed system components.
  • Weekly reporting on status, progress, and key issues/concerns as directed by the Project Lead or Sr. Project Manager.
  • Transfer skills and knowledge to selected OPS staff.
  • Senior QA Specialist may be required to do similar work related to the role, for other initiatives within PRS, as directed by the manager.

Must Haves:
  • Ability to write and design test plans and test cases that are well-structured, easy to maintain, and easily understood by both developers and business analysts, and clients, providing detailed testing plans.
  • Extensive experience in conducting system testing by executing online test scripts, and manual test cases
  • Experience analyzing test data requirements and creating appropriate test data to support the test strategy.
  • Experience with automated system testing and testing tools for CI/CD DevOps Pipelines
  • Experience using automated testing scripts and tools (e.g. Rational Functional Tester, Selenium, or any equivalent automated testing tool).
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile project management and development practices (managing the backlog, preparing and supporting the scrum master, sprint planning, creating user stories, etc.

Evaluation Criteria:

Testing Experience:
  • 7+ years of experience in system testing.
  • Excellent knowledge of system testing methodology and executing system and user acceptance tests.
  • Ability to understand and analyze business requirements, and systems response documents, to design and execute test plans to ensure the system functions and meets the business requirements.
  • Experience verifying actual results meet expected results, examining test databases using SQL, analyzing and logging test results, and documenting and monitoring the resolution of system variances using an automated problem management system (e.g. Clear Quest).
  • Ability to write and design test plans and test cases that are well-structured, easy to maintain, and easily understood by both developers and business analysts, and clients, providing detailed testing plans.
  • Proven and demonstrable troubleshooting and analytical experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Experience analyzing business requirements documentation including use cases, user stories, and other non-functional requirements.
  • Extensive experience in conducting system testing by executing online test scripts, and manual test cases
  • Experience analyzing test data requirements and creating appropriate test data to support the test strategy.
  • Experience with automated system testing and testing tools for CI/CD DevOps Pipelines
  • Experience testing data migration processes.
  • Experience preparing and maintaining defect summaries and reports to aid with prioritization of work and defect tracking.
  • Experience using automated testing scripts and tools (e.g. Rational Functional Tester, Selenium, or any equivalent automated testing tool).
  • 5+ years of experience with Agile project management and development practices (managing the backlog, preparing and supporting the scrum master, sprint planning, creating user stories etc.

Analytical Skills:
  • Proven and demonstrable troubleshooting and analytical experience
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Experience analyzing business requirements documentation including Use Cases and non-functional requirements
  • Experience analyzing test data requirements and creating appropriate test data to support the test strategy

Communications Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Strong consulting skills to engage with all stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated team player with a track record for meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated success in working productively with business clients, developers, and technical specialists such as DBAs, web administrators, etc.
  • Demonstrated experience reporting status, progress, and key issues/concerns to project managers and leads.

Note:
  • Hybrid role- 3-days per week onsite required in Kingston or Toronto
