Summary of Position: The Automotive Apprentice Technician assists the Automotive Service Technicians on repair and maintenance services to customers’ vehicles with the BMW standard of quality. The Apprentice learns from the Lead Technician and is working towards obtaining Red Seal certification.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Promotes dealership by presenting a professional image, positive attitude, and a clean work area.

Ensure repairs are performed efficiently to the BMW standard of quality.

Work closely with Licensed Technicians and Service Advisors to ensure all necessary service and repair work is brought to the customer’s attention.

Perform work as outlined on repair order with efficiency and accuracy.

Completes service and repair assignments correctly, to pass quality inspections or test drives.

Diagnose the cause of any malfunction and perform the repair with the guidance of a Senior Technician or a Shop Foreman.

Inspect fluid levels and top up as needed, Check and replace various filters, Drain and replace engine, transmission & differential lubricants.

Rotate, repair, mount & balance tires.

Drives vehicle onto wheel alignment rack and tests vehicle for faulty wheel alignment, bent axle, worn ball joints and bent steering rods.

Installs shock absorbers.

Produce quality work that ensures vehicles are fixed right the first time to reduce comebacks.

Maintain and clean shop equipment.

Ensure workplace safety and cleanliness.

Keep up to date on all new technical information and factory technical bulletins as released by BMW Group.

Independent online learning on BMW University’s technical courses (pre-reqs & SIPs)

Stays up to date on the latest technical services through training, bulletins, campaigns, etc.

Must be working towards obtaining Provincial red seal certification.

Maintains a high level of personal appearance consistent with the standards set by the dealership.

Completing work in a timely, safe, and efficient manner

Reporting of failures, errors, deviations, and damages

Other duties as assigned by management.

Job Specifications:

Automotive Technical Training at a qualified Trades Post-Secondary Institution

Solid understanding and application of technical automotive knowledge

Demonstrate a high degree of accuracy, sound judgment and attention to detail.

Self-motivated with the desire to continuously learn.

Must be able to work independently and in a team setting.

Strong time management and organizational Skills

Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Strong work ethic

Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. repeatedly.

Valid driver's license with a clean current abstract

Compensation: $25.00-$32.00 per hour

Work Environment: Our hours of operations are below. The hours and days of work are dependent on your role with a 40-hour workweek for full-time employment.

9:00 am to 7:00 pm Monday to Thursday

9:00 am to 6:00 pm Friday

9:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturday

12:00 pm to 5:00 pm Sunday & Statutory Holidays
