Job summary

Wehave an exciting opportunity for a Senior Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to joinour supportive team and facilitate effective communication for all.

We have been commissioned by Halton Borough Counciland NHS Cheshire and Merseyside to provide the children and young people's SLTservices in Halton. This includes all elements of universal, targeted andspecialist services.

We are looking for generalist SLT for this mixed successful candidate will join our Halton Teamand will work in partnership with children, young people, their families andthe children's workforce. You will be supported by our wider team and will beable to shape both the innovative services in Halton and our organisation as awhole.

Where appropriate, we can provide training and supervision for SLTs whilst they develop specialisms in a wide range of service areas including AAC, ASD assessments and dysphagia.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will support assessment andinterventions for children for whom we receive a request for specific services. At this level, the role may include supervising junior SLTs and SLTAs and delivering training to the workforce.

Our services are mostly delivered within Family Hubsand educational settings and often involve collaboration with parents, carersand the Multi-agency team.

Our team in Halton consists of: Speech and LanguageTherapist Lead; Specialist, Senior and Junior SLTs; Early Years Teacher; Speechand Language Therapy Assistants; all of whom are supported by a BusinessSupport Team.

Coreresponsibilities.

To provide a speech and languagetherapy services to children, directly and through support to their familiesand the multi-disciplinary team. Provide speech, language andcommunication assessments for children and young people in consultation with theirfamilies, the multi- disciplinary team and other SLTs and SLTAs. Keep accurate records and providewritten reports. Set targets for therapy and monitorprogress. Provide intervention on an individualor group basis as required. Develop and demonstrate SLT programmesand groups for pupils. Hold responsibility for own caseloadand be responsible for a defined area of the service, working without directsupervision. Work as a member of themulti-disciplinary team, contributing to the planning, development and deliveryof an effective and efficient service. Liaise with other involved agenciesand with families to provide an integrated service. Take full SLT student placements. Supervise SLTs under direction oftheir line manager. Support the induction of others in theEducation team. Will facilitate clinical casediscussions. Will access clinical supervisionwithin the team via regular meetings, supervision, mentoring and appraisals. Will be committedto continuing their professional development. Able to makeindependent decisions about caseload management. Support the delivery of trainingprogrammes to others and contribute to the development of training. Essential

Speech and Language Therapy (SLT) Degree or Masters. Registration with RCSLT and HCPC.

Desirable

Post graduate Training relevant to role, Elklan, Therapy Outcome Measures (TOMs).

Experience

Essential

2+ years experience working as an SLT with children, young people who have Speech, Language and Communication needs, their families and the Multi-agency team. Experience working within early years settings and schools.

Desirable

Sound knowledge of clinical practice, national policies and issues relating to the delivery of Speech and Language Therapy Services. Experience in coaching others. Skilled at giving and receiving positive and critical feedback to colleagues.
