Job Description
ROLE SUMMARY:
· Contribute to cutting-edge machine concepts and design sophisticated control software.
· Integrate software seamlessly with electrical and mechanical systems.
· Develop innovative processes and oversee machine installations at customer sites around the globe.
· Gather user requirements, design and develop advanced data systems, and create and execute comprehensive test plans.
· Evaluate needs and craft solutions that enable automation equipment to connect and exchange information with a variety of customer information systems.
· Lead and support the department with your expertise and skillset, becoming a key player in our success.
· C# & .NET: Develop high-performance applications using the latest .NET technologies.
· SQL Server: Design the database schema and interfaces for maintaining part traceability and quality through custom automation processes.
· Industrial Automation Systems: Work hands-on with key systems like PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, MES, and ERP, driving technological advancements and shaping the future of manufacturing.
Responsibilities include:
· Stakeholder Interaction & Requirements Gathering: Collaborate closely with stakeholders to understand and document software requirements, ensuring a comprehensive grasp of their needs and expectations.
· Coding Excellence: Commit to writing and reviewing code that adheres to clean coding practices, and Test-Driven Development, maintaining high standards of software quality.
· Automation Integration: Deployment and testing of the machine database, customer connections, front end UI’s, etc. that have been created for the equipment will be a significant part of this roll.
· Teamwork and Technical Support: Proactively engage in teamwork across various departments, working with shop floor integrators, systems designers, and validation engineers. Offer and receive support to concept, design, deploy, optimize, troubleshoot, and test software applications, ensuring smooth operation, effective user support, and continuous improvement.
· Communication and Collaboration: Actively participate in various initiatives to enhance team dynamics and knowledge base. This could include presenting demos, problem-solving sessions, creating and delivering department training to improve overall knowledge and skill set in this subject matter.
· International travel expectation between 5%- 15%, to support equipment installation.
· Ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct
Additional InformationEducation
- Post secondary Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent with emphasis on software design and development.
Experience
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Unit testing – experience developing and executing system functionality testing, mitigating deployment risk and schedule impact
- Experience with authentication technology such as OAuth (API authentication)
- Experience translating user requirements to functional design requirements and solutions.
- Experience writing complex SQL queries and transactions that maintain data integrity in a high concurrency OTLP database.
- Experience interpreting SQL execution plans, optimizing queries and indexing for performance
- Programming Skillset:
- SQL / database architecture design and deployment
- ASP.Net (C#) using Razor pages and MVC
- REST API client design and deployment
- Knowledge of JavaScript including experience with one or more frameworks (e.g. React.js)
- Industrial Automation Systems: Hands-on programming experience with systems like Rockwell PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, in a manufacturing environment.
- Business Processes and Systems: Working experience developing for MES and ERP systems.
- Problem-Solving Ability: Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex challenges.
- Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities, both in writing and verbally, able to articulate ideas clearly and collaborate effectively in a team.
- Database Knowledge: Proficiency in database systems, with a preference for SQL Server.
- Cybersecurity Understanding: Preference for good understanding of cybersecurity best practices, the importance of securing applications, including OWASP guidelines would be a benefit.
