Cambridge, Canada CJ's Express Plumbing and Electrical Ltd Full time

CJ's Express Plumbing and Electrical is a family owned multi-trade company. Due to growth, the company is currently looking to add a Controller to its team. We are looking for a detail-oriented professional with strong analytical skills and a solid understanding of accounting principles. This position would include the oversight of all day-to-day accounting including AP/AR, job cost accounting, payroll, cash flow management, budgeting, work-in-process reporting, general ledger maintenance, financial forecasting, and control of assets. Experience in relevant accounting and construction required.

**Responsibilities**:

- Manage and prepare monthly reconciliations for the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss GL accounts
- Manage insurance needs
- Preparation of annual budget, forecasts, and business analytics
- Advising on financial strategies, decisions and potential risks to support company growth and profitability
- Management of company overhead and expenses and reporting
- Supervision and coaching of accounting team
- Work with accounting team to ensure clients are billed accurately and on time
- Ensure that all accounting procedures and policies comply with GAPP
- Liaison with External Accountant, Banker and Lawyer
- Monitor receivables
- Assist in software set-up and updates
- Develop and implement creative solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness and improvement of systems within accounting
- Assist project managers with job analysis and forecasting
- Lead the year-end audit, preparing documentation for external accountant
- Ensure all government remittances are filed timely and accurately
- Manage month-end closing process
- Analysis of construction projects, financial statements and bank reporting

**Experience**:

- University degree and accounting designation
- At least 7-10 years of progressive experience
- At least 5 years relevant work experience within the construction industry
- Understanding of job costing, project contracts for revenue recognition, and percentage completion
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data
- Excellent software skills with Microsoft (Outlook, Excel, Word) and accounting software such as Quickbooks
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Self-starter and ability to meet critical business deadlines
- strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices

**Salary**: $80,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
