About the role

We are looking for a Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Mechanic to join the Central Services Maintenance team, where they will perform repairs on our industrial ventilation and refrigeration systems and equipment in various locations across the aluminum smelter site.

This is a great opportunity for a safety-oriented and motivated individual, with skills and expertise in the field, to have an important role in ensuring the reliability of equipment by creating and repairing key components in process equipment and buildings in a safe, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective manner.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor and working a 12-hour rotating day and night shift schedule, you will be:

Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards – actively participating, and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our “Zero harm” safety culture Providing sufficient detail about repairs so that others can understand what work has been done on the equipment, by entering the details in SAP Contributing to safety and productivity by constructively participating in safety meetings and incident investigations Conducting equipment reviews to ensure new and existing equipment meet site safety standards and operational requirements Lay out reference points for installation, assemble and install components, install wiring to connect components to an electric power supply and calibrate related controls Measure, cut, bend, thread and connect pipe to functional components and utilities Maintain and service systems by inspecting and testing components, brazing and soldering parts to repair defective joints, adjusting and replacing worn or defective components and reassembling repaired components and systems Service and commission, with start-up, test, charge, adjust, calibrate, balance, measure, verify, maintain and document system

What you’ll bring

A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team Interprovincial Red Seal Air Conditioning & Refrigeration Mechanic qualification Minimum of a valid Class 7 (Novice) driver’s license, or out-of-province equivalent Work cooperatively in a small team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability Good communication Proficiency in English, and good communication skills
