Robert Half is hiring a Full Charge Bookkeeper, and you might be the perfect candidate. The long-term contract / temporary Full Charge Bookkeeper will work in Ottawa, Ontario. We are looking for people who can establish and maintain the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives, as well as handle all general accounting and bookkeeping functions, including the preparation of financial statements.

How you will make an impact

- Preserving historical records through accurate filing of documents

- Tracking fixed assets to produce depreciation schedules

- Handling processing tasks for accounts payable and accounts receivable, including collections

- Ensuring correct and punctual monthly, quarterly and year end close

- Handling reconciliations for bank and general ledgers, and processing payroll

- Supervising tasks of accounting clerks and entry-level bookkeepers

- Producing the trial balance and financial statements, including, but not limited to, balance sheet and statements of income and of cash flows

- Following federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying requirements, implementing adherence to requirements, filing reports, and advising management on needed actions
- Highly capable of analyzing financial data and quickly creating accurate reports

- Prior payroll experience preferred

- Billing Functions experience highly preferred

- Background working with Great Plains (GPAC)

- Strong familiarity with Microsoft Excel

- Experience with Microsoft Outlook

- ADP Financial Services experience

- Comprehensive knowledge of Accounting Software Systems

- Adeptness in Accounting Functions

- Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Office Suites

- Practical knowledge of bank reconciliations

- General familiarity with Accounts Receivable (AR)

- Demonstrated knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

- 5+ years of relevant experience in bookkeeping

- Experienced in accrual and cash basis of accounting

- Ability to multitask, collaborate and communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds in a fast-paced environment

- Strong organization skills with a sense of urgency and capable of prioritizing multiple tasks

- High school diploma or equivalent required, and AA degree or higher in Accounting or Business preferred

- Capable of working independently with minimal oversight

- Prior experience with Excel, Quickbooks, and Peachtree

- Show the ability to adapt and learn new techniques and skill sets when required
