About the opportunity

National Associate Director of Tax Services is a leadership role that supports tax experts across the Baker Tilly Canada network on nationwide tax advisory initiatives. The role reports to the National Director of Tax Services.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Work with the National Director of Tax, NTAC and key senior management to allocate and manage network resources and develop and implement strategic tax initiatives; Co-lead, and oversee standing committees and working groups together with the National Director of Tax; Participate and co-lead with internal and external consultations and preparation of technical memos, presentations and other material to disseminate tax related information throughout the network; Effectively lead, inspire and mentor a team of tax professionals within a remote working environment; Provide thought leadership through internal and external writing and speaking engagements; Follow developing tax legislation and administration and develop policies and provide technical commentary and analysis to the network; Proactively strengthen Baker Tilly’s profile through internal and external speaking opportunities, representation with CTF, STEP and CPA Canada; Collaborate within the network to coordinate common initiatives such as tax education, professional practice and the development of tax resources; and Provide technical tax resources and guidance to the network.

A successful candidate will have:

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

Must have a CPA designation and completion of the CPA In-Depth Tax program or a Masters of Tax degree; A minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience working predominantly in tax, with tax education and lecturing experience; Passion for education, training and crafting innovative educational content to inspire and empower the network; Excellent technical and practical knowledge of the Canadian tax system; demonstrating analytical abilities, understanding and insight for both compliance and planning; Extensive practical experience and familiarity with tax issues faced by members in practice and in business. Strong networking and organizational skills, and ability to effectively engage and manage with individuals within a remote working environment; Exceptional people management skills, with a strong focus on collaboration, communication and coaching, including inclusive leadership, consensus building, excellent judgment, and decision-making; Ability to work with a diverse group to facilitate mutually beneficial outcomes related to tax issues; Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively articulate complex tax issues to a diverse group, Desire to become an influential leader in the tax community, Bilingualism in French and English would be an asset, This role will be executed in a remote working environment.
