Position Description:

The CARE (Coordinate, Assess, Response and Educate) Team Supervisor willoversee the implementation and management of a behavioral intervention programfor George Brown College. Under the supervision of the Director for StudentRights and Responsibilities, this position is responsible for providing casemanagement for all student cases referred to the GBC CARE team. The CARE Team Supervisor will be responsible for assessing and responding to behavioralissues among students and providing support to faculty and staff in managingdifficult situations. The supervisor will lead a team of professionals inproviding education, prevention, intervention, and referral services to ensurea safe and inclusive environment for all members of the campus community.

Key Responsibilities:

Provides case management for all student cases referred to the GBC CARE team.
Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive behavioral intervention program for the college.
Develop and implement policies, protocols, and procedures related to the behavioral intervention program.
Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the CARE Team.
Function as the administrator of the campus Behavioral Intervention Team by coordinating relevant information and conducting team recommendations and processes.
Assists in procedural issues that may arise through the course of an investigation and provides guidance on such matters.
Ensures that all related procedures align with principles of inclusion, and standards of procedural fairness and requirements as outlined in various legislation.
Conducts intake, investigations, and reporting of high-level/complex complaints of infractions of the student code of conduct.
Triage intakes, review complaints, and collate investigatory information.
Identify, obtain, review, and analyze all documentation and evidence relevant to the investigation.
Participate in the investigation of complaints; meet with complainants and respondents where necessary to collect information regarding complaints; gather necessary information to identify relevant issues.
Review and analyze all evidence collected during an investigation including identification and analysis of any legal/regulatory issues.
Write detailed, high-quality reports and correspondence setting out facts of a case cogently, objectively, and accurately based on a well-reasoned analysis and objective assessment of the evidence.
Other related duties as assigned.

Educational and Experience Requirements:

Master’s degree in a relevant field (psychology, counselling, social work, criminology, behavioural health field) or an equivalent combination of education, training, and education.
Minimum seven (7) years’ experience working with highly diverse student populations.
Knowledge of mental health resources and experience working with individuals experiencing mental health challenges.
Experience with risk assessment and safety planning.
Experience in investigations, case management (within the context of a Behavioural Intervention Team), administrative law and processes, and mediation.
Experience working in a role that required case management of individuals through activity streams of follow-up, contacting resources and stakeholders of status, and documenting all activities to be able to "close" the case appropriately.
Experience working in higher education and familiarity with FIPPA privacy regulations.
Experience dealing with abusive/aggressive people.
Experience with training and providing professional development to faculty and staff.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite and electronic databases.
Understanding of Ontario laws, policies, and regulations related to student behaviour and conduct.

Demonstrated excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities to assess the relevant evidence and exercise sound judgment and tact.
Ability to understand and interpret policy and protocol.
Ability to exercise discretion regarding sensitive or confidential issues.
Excellent crisis management, counselling, mediation, and decision-making skills.
Demonstrated communication, collaboration, teamwork, and interpersonal skills at a professional level.
Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College’s priorities on diversity and equity.
This is a full-time position located on campus, the CARE team supervisor may be required to work occasional evenings or weekends, to respond to behavioral incidents or to attend meetings and training sessions.
The position may require some travel for training or professional development opportunities.
