Your Opportunity:

We are looking for an experienced mental health professional who is knowledgeable and has significant experience working with persons suffering from an acute mental illness; be flexible and adaptable to changing circumstances. As a Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. The Mental Health Therapist will provide psycho-educational group sessions, on a variety of topics, to acute, mentally ill clients. The successful candidate will work well independently and in consultation with the treatment teams. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Master's degree in Psychology; or master's degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master's or bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master's degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing, with experience in mental health assessment. Completed licensure under the Health Professions Act. Direct client care includes responding, screening and prioritizing service, conducting necessary assessment and providing treatment to clients including mental status and risk assessments and therapy. Five years’ experience in mental health / addictions. Nonviolent Crisis Intervention.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working within complex care and strong system advocacy skills.
