Family Medicine: Geriatrics in Motion

Located in vibrant and popular community of Clayton Park, Halifax, the Geriatrics in Motion team are seeking to add a full time physician to their team. There are currently three physicians, plus a family practice nurse. The clinic is located on the Clayton Park campus of Parkland Retirement Living. All physicians currently work in long-term care as well as rostering patients.
The vacancy at this clinic is to take over a roster of approximately 1, patients. The primary care portion of the role is 0.6, with the remainder servicing retirement living and long-term care residents. Other areas of interest outside of the 0.6 FTE primary care may also be pursued. There is a teaching opportunity available as part of this role, and new physicians would be able to do procedures such as lumps and bumps on site.
This clinic runs on a cost sharing model between physicians. Monthly overhead fluctuates based on lease, costs, etc. The front office staff includes one office manager and two medical administrative assistants.
ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures; advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners’
Act as a patient’s advocate
Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
Expected HoursFull time, Monday to Friday.
QualificationsEligible for Licensure with the (CPSNS)
Eligible for certification with the (CFPC)
