Your Opportunity:

This is an opportunity to work in a multi disciplinary team setting on Geriatric Assessment and Rehabilitation Unit at the Chinook Regional Hospital in Lethbridge, Ab. We are an acute care team including Nurses, Healthcare Aides, Unit Clerks, LPN's, RN's, Occupational and Physical Therapists, Therapy Assistants, Social Worker to name a few including our patients and families whom we consider a part of our team as we endeavor to deliver Patient and Family Centered Care. We provide care for those requiring acute care generally at the age of 65 and over. We have a Dining Room on our Unit and require Service Workers on our team to assist us in helping keep our in patients comfortable and cared for during their stay helping meet their needs including but not limited to meal and fluids support, cleaning our environment, helping managing stock and assisting with patient transfers regarding mobility. Our patients enjoy socializing with our Service Workers as well while duties are being managed in this team acute care setting. Thank you for your interest in reviewing this opportunity.

Description:

As a Service Worker I, you will be responsible for transporting patients (clients/residents) and equipment to and from different patient care areas within a hospital site. You will distribute and replenish hospital supplies throughout the units and clean equipment and patient care areas as directed. You may also transport lab specimens, blood and blood products, and patient charts. You will report any concerns regarding supplies and safety issues to Unit Managers and perform other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:

Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated professionalism in work setting or volunteer capacity. Character of wishing to help elderly patients and their families.

Preferred Qualifications:

Food safety certification. It's Your Move/ equivalent patient transfer training. Leadership role in work setting. Experience in Health Care setting. Experience and comfort with elderly population.
