Job Description

24X7 Operation, maintenance and support of the Core, RAN and Transmission network. 

Operation, maintenance, & Fault management 

  • O&M of the installed Core, RAN and Transmission network 24 X 7 X 365. This involves physical and logical troubleshooting on the network elements. 
  • Implementation of Core, RAN and transmission WOs for expansions, integrations, upgrades, optimization, preventive and correction actions. 
  • Perform troubleshooting and corrective actions on trouble tickets assigned by NOC. This may involve engaging other Ops and engineering groups. 
  • Respond to dispatch as required during service hours and on-call periods for planned and unplanned activities or outages. Resolve and report resolution of outages or issues to the NOC. 

Preventive Maintenance 

  • Regular Preventive maintenance routines
  • Ensuring all critical backups are completed as scheduled and stored as specified

Project & Network Expansion Support 

  • Working with other technical groups for acceptance and BoQ verification of newly installed equipment inside the data centre. 
  • Providing support to engineering teams on network projects, rollouts, integrations, swaps etc. 
  • Execution of Test Call Matrix pre and post minor and major network activities
  • Execution of backhaul testing (RFC2544) for new rings, sites, intercity and intracity fiber/ethernet links.

Team Coaching and Development 

  • Technical coaching / training of new hires and junior specialists in the team
  • Contributing to Ops processes, MOPs and procedures for the team
  • Cover Team lead during his vacation time and handle the team escalations

Infrastructure, Equipment and Tools  

  • Ensuring all time spare availability, working with the vendor on RMAs
  • Understanding and utlizing all available tools to support the Switch Ops function.
  • Supporting environmental equipement e.g. DC, AC, HVAC etc. Working with switch facilities team, providing access and support to the vendors for scheduled PMs or fault troubleshooting on these platforms. 
  • Follow and implement all safety rules and guidelines and report any safety deficiencies at switch locations. 
  • Maintain site to ensure tidiness and identify any obstructions or policy violations requiring attention
  • Enforce contractor rules and escort policies and report any non-compliance to the switch lead. 

Qualifications
  • Engineering in technical discipline or Technical diploma from a recognized college or institution
  • Strong knowledge of Wireless Core architecture for all different technologies i.e. 3G and LTE
  • 3-5 years of hands on experience on Core, and RAN or transmission NEs. 
  • Strong knowledge Core and Radio Network equipment for various vendors
  • Core and Radio Network operations and configuration
  • Knowledge on IP technologies and Nokia, Juniper, Cisco router OS and principles
  • Strong knowledge of network and testing tools
  • Excellent knowledge of telecom specific processes and especially for network O&M
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Availability overnight or week-end activities and call-out
