The opportunity:

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President, Digital and Data Product Engineering & Delivery, the Senior Manager, Data Engineering will be highly skilled in all aspects of data development and management, improving and managing data-driven approaches.

Key responsibilities include:

Architecting data pipelines and data solutions based on industry standards and best practices; focus in AWS environment (Lambda, glue, Airflow, CloudWatch, SNS, etc.). Fostering an environment that emphasizes trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort. Developing and using data systems by identifying and developing efficient ways to organize data store, and analyze data, while also paying attention to security and confidentiality. Understanding corrupted data and fixing coding errors and related problems. Analyzing, interpreting, and presenting results by means of different tools and techniques. Determining root cause for data integrity gaps and providing appropriate data resolution and process remedy solutions. Developing innovative and effective approaches to solve business problems through data approaches and communicate results and methodologies. Data Team Management Combining your technical expertise and problem-solving passion to work closely with stakeholders, turning complex ideas into end-to-end solutions that transform our stakeholders’ business. Contributing to the design, development and delivery of large-scale data for mobile adoption and transformation projects that delivers business value for clients. Conducting technical feasibility assessments and providing project estimates for the design and development of the solution. Providing technical inputs to agile processes, such as epic, story and task definition to resolve issues and remove barriers throughout the lifecycle of client engagements. Coordinating the activities and adapting the schedules to the priorities provided by the Manager. Project Management Creating and maintaining multi-platform solutions including hybrid environments using tools such as AWS/ DevOps/ Visual Studio and Cloud service. Leadership Contributing to the productivity of the team, leading by example, and mentoring, helping, and growing junior team members. Creating and coordinating technical review sand showing cases meetings. Supporting team members in challenging situations (resource / release challenges, cross-team communication). Scheduling ad-hoc meetings to solve for disagreements or ambiguities to reduce risk of jeopardizing milestones and or artifacts. Understanding team strengths and weaknesses in order to improve each phase of the project lifecycle. Performing other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate will possess:

A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field. Familiarity with machine learning algorithms. A minimum 7 years’ experience with data infrastructure, deployment and data management, with a focus in AWS cloud environment. (AWS Big Data, glue, lambda, cloudwatch, airflow, integration, APIs, encryptions, decryption, metadata, etc). A minimum 4 years’ experience managing/leading data engineering teams. Proficiency with the MSOffice suite, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Teams, and Outlook 4 + years’ experience with API integration and data ingestion from AWS environments. 4+ years’ experience with SFTP connection and integration from AWS environments. 3+ years’ experience with data decryption and encryption. 7+ years’ experience with multiple data engines, SQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Oracle, MySQL, DynamoDB, etc. 6+ years’ experience and knowledge of AWS stack such as S3, DMS, Glue, Lambda. API Gateway, SNS, CloudWatch, ETLs with 3rd party tools, etc. 3+ years’ experience with API integration and data ingestion. 3+ years’ experience with data decryption and encryption. 5+ year’s demonstrable experience with one or more of SQL, R, Python, Spark. Experience in building logical and physical design of data, relational/non-relational databases such as Snowflake/Redshift. Experience with Kafka or AWS Kinesis handling streaming data is an asset. Experience with Databricks, DBT or CI/CD tools like Git, Jenkins is an asset. Knowledge of database systems static data and real time. Advanced troubleshooting skills. GitLab for management of the code releases and deployment. Demonstrate a high level of accountability, reliability, adaptability, and innovation in accomplishing day to day work and long-term goals. Familiarity with machine learning algorithms. Excellent attitude and commitment to providing extraordinary service. An excellent attention to detail. Exemplary interpersonal and influencing skills; an ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively, across multiple mediums (in-person, over the phone, and virtually). Excellent problem-solving skills. Strong organizational skills. A high tolerance for ambiguity; highly adaptive and able to manage a large volume of competing priorities. Strong critical thinking and written and verbal communication skills.
