We offer an extensive array of comprehensive engineering design and design/build services encompassing power system engineering, design-build services for utilities, joint use and telecommunication design, traffic and transportation engineering, and renewable energy systems. We have an opening for a **Telecom Drafter** who will be responsible for producing high-quality CAD design drawings for outside plant projects for major Canadian utility companies. This is a 12-month contract.
**Responsibilities**:
- Producing, modifying, and maintaining Electrical drawings and templates.
- Reviewing third-party drawings such as civil, architectural, landscape, and utilities for conflicts and information as required by the project.
- Importing survey, architectural, civil, and other forms of data into drawings as required.
- Ensuring data integrity in design, construction, and record drawings.
- Autonomously manage workload to control multiple tasks with a very high degree of accuracy, while meeting project deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to electrical and drafting standards.
- Additional project support and stretch tasks as required by the design team.
- Desire to learn and take on new challenges. Curiosity for electrical design and how the design process works.
- Self-starter, and goal-oriented.
- Enjoys solving problems and enjoys tasks that require critical thinking.
- Working with senior members to maintain drafting tools, processes, and templates.
- Other duties as required.
**Qualifications**:
- At least one year of experience as an Electrical Technologist or equivalent.
- CAD/Drafting certificate or diploma from a recognized college or university.
- Efficient in using AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, and Bluebeam.
- Good understanding of general construction is an asset.
- Proficient English language skills, verbal and written.
- Strong collaborative / communications skills, and a willingness to liaise with other disciplines (Engineering, Construction, and Survey).
- A passion for your work and self-motivated.
- Class 5 driver’s license.
**A few qualifications that would help you succeed**:
- Experience working in the electric consulting or related engineering environment, ideally with experience in design of residential and commercial projects.
- Familiar with Building Code and Canadian Electrical Code design standards.
- Experience with AutoCAD and MS Office.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Have shown leadership skills by participating in extra-curricular events, and volunteer work.
