The Opportunity:

To lead and coordinate the functions of the EconomicDevelopment Section and oversees the City's interests in regional economicpartnerships. Develops and implements economic development strategies, marketingplans and programs to facilitate investment and labour force retention andattraction; and interacts with business and stakeholders at a local,provincial, federal and international level.

As our preferred candidate, youwill have:

Undergraduate degree, majoring in marketing,communications or business administration plus five or more years relatedexperience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to communicate on a confidential basis andprofessional level with business representatives, elected officials and public,to withstand stress situations, influence positive outcomes throughnegotiations, and to respond courteously to complaints. Ability to work independently and with a minimumamount of supervision to effectively assess and manage complex tasks andprojects, present alternative solutions and achieve objectives in a timelymanner, with significant consequence for error. Demonstrated ability to coordinate, guide or manageothers and co-workers in carrying out interdependent duties. Ability to effectively promote the advantages of theCity as a place to locate business with knowledge of the Tourism Industry as aneconomic driver. Considerable knowledge of marketing, economicdevelopment and land development with the demonstrated ability in supervision,project management, basic accounting and finance, and computer applications (MSoffice suite, Internet, JD Edward/One world, etc.). Understands governance models and Boards of Directorsto be able to protect City interests by providing advice to organizations abouthow they are structured.

Remuneration:

$53.54 to $56.36 per hour.

Hours of Work:

75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening andweekend work may be required.
