Position Information

**Position Title**
- Flexible Learning Support Specialist**Position Summary**
- The Flexible Learning Support Specialist participates as a member of a multi-disciplinary team supporting the broader mandate of the Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship. The purpose of this position is to support the integration of online learning best practices to the delivery of flexible learning services, supports, and classes at Red Deer Polytechnic. The Flexible Learning Support Specialist supports students and faculty in the development, delivery, and navigation of online services and technologies within RDP’s flexible learning environment.**Position Responsibilities**
- Responsibilities of the Flexible Learning Support Specialist include:
- Connecting flexible learning students to Red Deer Polytechnic and provide assistance to resolve concerns and remove barriers to create an environment for successful student retention
- Providing training and support to faculty and students in the adoption and use of technology for teaching and learning
- Creating and maintaining e-media including TheLoop, the website, social media, and other online platforms for the Flexible Learning Office
- Providing operational support for the Flexible Learning Office and the Centre of Teaching, Learning and Scholarship
- Continuous growth and acquisition of new skills

**Required Qualifications**
- Four (4) year undergraduate degree, or three (3) year undergraduate degree plus one full additional year of University in a related program representing four years of study or equivalent
- A minimum of one (1) to two (2) years relevant experience
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to become a contributing member of a team
- Demonstrated ability to think critically and solve problems
- Experience working with the public and a demonstrated commitment to maintaining a high level of customer service
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong written communication skills
- Proven ability to collect, collate, present, and interpret statistical data for information and planning purposes
- Ability to interpret and identify needs of students, faculty, and staff to produce training plans and resources
- Proven ability to adapt and learn new skills
- Two years’ experience in online post-secondary education

**Preferred Qualifications**
- Knowledge of online graphic design principles, web accessibility standards and current instructional theories for collaborative learning with web-based tools and asset
- Experience in web design; ability to code in HTML and CSS an asset
