We are actively recruiting for a Senior Liability Specialist to handle complex property damage liability claims which may arise from Aviva’s various liability policies. Typical policies include Commercial Automobile, Commercial General Liability, Wrap-Up Liability, Personal Automobile and Habitational.

The role is focusing the investigation, negotiation, and settlement of property damage liability claims in accordance with Aviva’s procedures and guidelines. 

The successful candidate will have a strong focus on quality, productivity, customer service, and financial management. They will also have a dynamic personality and thrive within a high-performance culture.

What you’ll do:

Interpret and confirm insurance coverage using background knowledge of relevant case law combined with a thorough understanding of policy wordings

Investigate, evaluate and settle complex property damage claims

Ensure accurate and timely reserves are set

Effectively manage customer, broker and stakeholder communication regarding claim matters

Clearly document and summarize file activity

Maintain control over expenses through pro-active handling techniques

Support and encourage Aviva’s claim and litigation philosophy

On litigated files, work in partnership with defence counsel to develop and implement strategies for bringing files to a timely and cost-effective resolution

Understand and adhere to Aviva’s claim procedures and guidelines

Provide superior customer service to our clients and partners

What you’ll bring:

Minimum of 7+ year claims adjusting experience or equivalent.

In depth knowledge of property damage liability claims

Superior knowledge of litigation and litigation strategies

CIP designation would be an asset

Ability to work independently and effectively from a hybrid working environment

A strong familiarity with current coverage case law

Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills

Well-developed organizational skills

Adaptability, flexibility, integrity and a willingness to learn

Committed team player with a positive outlook
