LOCATION

Located approximately 100 kilometres east of Toronto, NHH is a vibrant community hospital delivering a broad range of acute, post-acute, outpatient and diagnostic services. ROLE OVERVIEW

Reporting to the Program Manager, as a member of the multi-disciplinary team, the RPN uses the nursing process to provide care to a patient or group of patients as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS

Required

Currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario Current B.C.L.S. certification CC1 certification or obtain within 6 months Able to perform added nursing skills as required Ability to prioritize workload Ability to communicate effectively with the interprofessional team as well with patients and their families Follows safe and healthy work practices and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established reporting mechanisms for injuries, illness and hazards and adherence to health and safety related policies and procedures Physical ability to lift, pull, push, carry, reach, and physically support patients. Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time with repetitive bending. Ability to focus on complex instructions and tasks in an active, rapidly changing environment. Above average written and verbal communication skills, including listening.  Able to function as a team member and maintain good interpersonal relations while performing duties.  Applicants need to be available to work 2-3 shifts per week and 2 out of 4 weekends.

ASSETS

Completion or willingness to complete the Coronary Care Course Previous experience in a medical/surgical unit

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS

Successful applicants are required to provide a satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal reference check, that was complete less than one year from the date of hire. This requirement must be met within the first sixty (60) days of employment.

Additionally to the above, successful applicants are also required to complete the Health Care Worker Health review process which includes providing an up-to-date immunization record to ensure compliance with the Ontario Hospital Association Communicable Diseases Surveillance Protocols within the first thirty (30) days of employment. Northumberland Hills Hospital operates a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all staff.
