DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Coordinate and implement the TRU Women in Trades Training Program. 
  2. Develop and implement training and support to student groups.
  3. Deliver Life Skills workshops to student groups.
  4. Mentor and counsel students on life skills and academic opportunities.
  5. Coordinate trades related activities and workshops.
  6. Actively promote activities through verbal presentations, written and electronic means and by liaising with TRU and its external communities.
  7. Order supplies and equipment as required.
  8. Actively participate in all TRU Women in Trades Training events.
  9. Monitor budget and expenses.
  10. Submit reports on activities.
  11. Provide and maintain information for web page and print media to stakeholders.

Dean, School of Trades and Technology

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor degree in Education, Social Work or related field


EXPERIENCE

  • Two years' experience coordinating similar programs, preferably in an K-12 or post-secondary setting, including
    • Working with students


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE OR ABILITIES RELATED TO THE JOB

  • Ability to plan, coordinate and present workshops 
  • Ability to plan and present verbal presentations
  • Ability to coordinate support, offer mentorship
  • Ability to work independently and with a committee
  • Demonstrated awareness and acceptance of diverse cultures and community
  • Advanced organizational skills
  • Advanced computer knowledge including word processing and familiarity with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and web content management systems
  • Advanced interpersonal skills
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills
  • Familiar with the aboriginal culture and beliefs


WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Working in close proximity with students and staff in the office and in public settings
  • Ability to lift weights up to 5 kg
  • Sitting at a desk for long periods of time

 

The salary for the above position is determined by the Collective Agreement with the Canadian Union of Public Employees, Local 4879, as it presently exists.
