Planner I

The City of Kamloops is recruiting for a Planner I to join our Planning & Development Department, either in development/current or long-range planning This position requires a well-organized, resourceful, and motivated individual with strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications: 

1. Completion of a university degree in Urban Planning or a related discipline, such as geography, sociology, urban development, sustainable development, etc.
2. Ability to acquire full membership with the Canadian Institute of Planners within five years of employment.
3. Minimum of one year’s experience as a planner in a municipal or private sector environment, including previous experience in both a technical and analytical planning role.
4. Valid BC Driver's Licence - Class 5.
