Court & CPIC Services Liaison

As a Court & CPIC Services Liaison with Public Vehicle Standards, you will be the team lead for the CPIC Unit and will be responsible for providing guidance to CPIC Information Specialists. You will review and audit violation tickets, long form information and summonses, coordinate officer attendance for all court proceedings for Emergency Management & Community Safety (EMCS) peace officers, process warrant releases, conduct quality control and serve as property custodian. Primary duties include:
Provide direction, advise, problem-solve, direct, and assign workload for CPIC Information Specialists. Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) on CPIC policies and procedures, warrant execution and release. Assign, monitor and track trial notifications and coordinate officers to attend trials. Liaise with prosecutor's office, compile officer notifications, review crown disclosure packages and provide direction to officers regarding missing information and disclosure. Provide court documentation for trial and respond to public inquiries. Prepare subpoenas and coordinate service of subpoenas and long form court summonses. Monitor, receive and respond to customer inquiries relating to Transit Fare Evasion Tags; record payments. Add and maintain tickets and warrant entries on Administrative Penalty Notice (APN). Run reports and statistics for management. Perform data entry of Justice On-Line Information Network (JOIN) reports. Manage property retained in evidence lockers; review and secure evidence for court proceedings; retrieve evidence for officers for trial. Monitor court dates, charge dispositions and dispose of evidence when permitted by law. Ensure compliance with property and evidence procedures and maintain continuity of evidence and records for evidentiary and provincial audit purposes. Qualifications A High School Diploma or equivalency ( GED) and at least 5 years of directly related experience with a law enforcement agency or a provincial court or prosecution office, including at least 3 years of experience using the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC) system, OR; A related certificate and at least 3 years of directly related CPIC experience. Completion of a CPKN online CPIC query/narrative course and a 40-hour CPIC maintenance course is required. Extensive training in oral and written communication, transcription, keyboarding, legal procedures and computer applications with a focus on legal document preparation is also required. A Commissioner for Oaths appointment is also required. Leadership experience and experience with training/facilitating adult learning is preferred. Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, Livelink Physical Objects, One City RMS, PeopleSoft and JOIN. A thorough understanding of administrative law and prosecution processes will be considered an asset. Strong communication skills, leadership and customer service skills, high attention to detail and the ability to problem solve and resolve conflicts.-
