Environmental/Administration Intern

Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Environmental Intern based out of our Yellowknife office.
This position is expected to begin in May 2024 and will be a six-month term position.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting environmental field investigations, including the field sampling of various media potentially including soil, surface water, groundwater and more.
- Field work will occasionally require:
- Flying on charter aircraft including float planes and helicopters.
- Moderate-to-heavy physical exertion.
- Work periods that extend beyond an eight-hour workday or require working on weekends
- Working from boats and use of all-terrain vehicles.
- Contribution to the development of investigation workplans and health and safety plans.
- Assessment of field data and technical reporting.
- Supporting municipal works, which may include surveying assistance.
- Other duties as assigned.
Our internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional. Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current enrollment or completion of a science or technical certificate or degree program, or completion of ECO Canada BEAHR Training or similar.
- Experience with remote site logistics.
- Solid written and spoken communication skills.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Valid Drivers’ License
