Job Description

Job Description
AECOM is seeking an Environmental Intern based out of our Yellowknife office.

This position is expected to begin in May 2024 and will be a six-month term position.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Supporting environmental field investigations, including the field sampling of various media potentially including soil, surface water, groundwater and more.
  • Field work will occasionally require:
    • Flying on charter aircraft including float planes and helicopters.
    • Moderate-to-heavy physical exertion.
    • Work periods that extend beyond an eight-hour workday or require working on weekends
    • Working from boats and use of all-terrain vehicles.
    • Contribution to the development of investigation workplans and health and safety plans.
    • Assessment of field data and technical reporting.
    • Supporting municipal works, which may include surveying assistance.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Our internships are designed to introduce and build essential, hands-on skills that differ from those attained in the academic arena and help to enhance the transition from student to professional.  Interns are assigned duties that will provide a broad, well-rounded learning experience within their field of study.


Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment or completion of a science or technical certificate or degree program, or completion of ECO Canada BEAHR Training or similar.
  • Experience with remote site logistics.
  • Solid written and spoken communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Valid Drivers’ License
