Reporting to the Manager, Community Development, the Community Development and Social Impact Co-op supports the implementation of the Community Investment Program. The Co-op student will support the delivery of the program, including governance and administration of the program, activation of events sponsored by Teck, outreach to and support of operation and Business Unit CI practitioners, and development of communications materials (web stories, social posts, presentations) that highlight Teck’s sponsorship and donation activities. The role will be within the Social Performance team and help contribute to the broader Teck Social Performance priorities as needed. Depending on the needs and location of the team, you will need to work PDT or MDT or relocate to a specific office (site-based). You must also currently be a student enrolled in a Canadian post-secondary institution and will be enrolled throughout the duration of the co-op term (you will also be returning back to the post-secondary institution once the co-op term is completed). Proof of a valid work permit will also be required, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures  

  • Support the delivery of the Teck Community Investment program, including coordinating event participation and assisting with program administration  

  • Coordinate activities for Teck sponsorship events, including booth hosting and organization, coordination of materials, coordination of Teck attendees, and representation of Teck to external partners and community members  

  • Develop communications materials including slide decks, web stories, digital assets that highlight key community investment partnerships  

  • Coordinate in person and virtual employee engagement opportunities that align with and advocate for Teck partnerships with Teck employees  

  • Work with the Lead, Social Performance and Specialist, Community Investment on internal administration of the CI program and support the administration and delivery of the Teck employee donation match program  

  • As this role involves events and activations, some evening and weekend hours may be required  

 

Qualifications

  •  Currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program such as marketing, communications, social science, international development, sustainability, business/economic development, public policy, or similar 

  • Experience working directly or indirectly with non-profits, charitable organizations or community outreach organizations is an asset  

  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills. and strong organization skills with event planning experience

  • Proven understanding of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint) and data analysis and report writing skills is required 

 

Wage Range: $3900 - $5000 / Month

Salary is commensurate with the number of academic semesters and prior co-op experiences completed.
