Be the Spark Join our dynamic Camp & Outdoor Education Team, where every day is different, and you will always be engaged with meaningful work

Lifeguards will be responsible for lifeguarding our two outdoor pools, primarily on evening and weekends throughout the summer.

YMCA Camping and Outdoor Education programs offer the highest quality programs for children, youth, and adults through a variety of safe and fun activities supervised by qualified and energetic staff. All our camping and outdoor education programs promote personal growth and development with a focus on the YMCA core values of respect, responsibility, inclusiveness, caring, honesty, and health. 

In this role, you will:

Lifeguarding at the outdoor pool Assisting operations staff maintaining a clean and safe waterfront Continuously builds relationships with members, staff, volunteers, and community partners Demonstrate appropriate behaviors in line with our Mission, Vision and Values as reflected in our YMCA competencies; take a member-focused approach to increase their understanding of programs offered across the Association. Represent the YMCA and the Association in a professional manner Understand the importance of the volunteer staff partnership and integrates the value of philanthropy and volunteerism in dealings with participants, volunteers, donors and staff

What you need to succeed:

Commitment to the YMCA’s Focus on the health, safety and wellbeing of all children, youth, and vulnerable people in YMCA programs including understanding legal and moral obligations related to reporting suspected child abuse to Child Protection Services YMCA Competencies: Accountable, Relationship-Builder, Improvement-Orientated, Team Player & Leader, Equity and Wellbeing Promoter

You bring:

Ability to work effectively with others and independently to achieve optimal collective results Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication with members, staff and volunteers Excellent written and oral communication skills Standard First Aid, CPR C, NLS, Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset  Flexibility regarding assigned working hours, including days, evenings, overnights, weekends and holidays required Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and building a sense of belonging
