Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is a leading pediatric rehabilitation hospital in Canada, fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. We serve over 8,500 families annually and are renowned for our expertise in partnering with clients and families to provide exceptional care.

The Position

We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Swim Instructors and Lifeguards to join our team. As a Swim Instructor and Lifeguard, you will support our vision of creating the most meaningful and healthy futures for all children, youth and families by teaching water safety skills to children, youth and adults who do and don't have disabilities in a fully integrated setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor instructional and recreational swimming activities, including patrolling the pool deck and scanning the water, as well as monitoring patrons and volunteers to ensure a safe swim environment
  • Carry an aid at all times, perform emergency rescues to the standard of your certifications, respond to patron inquiries, resolve problems, and perform associated public education duties
  • Set up the pool deck prior to your shift & clean the deck following your shift
  • Attend all scheduled staff training
  • Record all hours worked
  • Keep all awards current
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Previous experience teaching swimming lessons (min. 1 year)
  • Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor
  • Standard First Aid with CPR Level C
  • National Lifeguard
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check

Compensation

  • Instructor rate: $24.29/hour and 4% pay in lieu of vacation and relevant statutory holiday pay
  • Lifeguard rate: $20.50/hour and 4% pay in lieu of vacation and relevant statutory holiday pay
