A challenging opportunity exists for an individual who thrives on handling a heavy workload and working with operations staff and representatives of the development industry. As a Parks Development Inspector, you will oversee the implementation of municipal and open space development projects, including protecting and preserving environmentally sensitive areas. In this position, you will inspect and report on landscape construction at all required inspection stages to ensure specific land parcels comply with drawings and specifications. You will also complete plan reviews and interpret and apply Council-approved policies, guidelines, and standards in making recommendations for Construction Completion Certificates and Final Acceptance Certificates. Primary duties include:

Inspect and report on landscape construction to ensure compliance with drawings and specifications; provides advice to operations, developers, and other business units. Review construction plans and plan details to ensure project plan complies with specification guidelines; approve plans prior to department acceptance. Provide advice and technical support. Implement protective measures on developable sites regarding environmental reserves, trees, etc. Qualifications  A completed 2 year diploma in Landscape Architecture Technology; OR a Journeyman Landscape Gardener Certificate or equivalent recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training. At least 2 years of directly related park and open space construction experience, including installing park irrigation systems. Applied technical knowledge of large and complex irrigation systems design will be considered an asset.
