Responsibilities:

Work closely with the Dean of Student, and in collaboration with the Executive Director of Citizenship and Global Education, promote, enhance, and participate in student life programming at the Senior School.

Encourage, support and ensure student accountability as described in the school Code of Conduct (punctuality, attendance, uniforms, and proper comportment).

Actively promote the use of the French language among students.

Work closely with teachers of level l and II on their professional learning goals.

Work closely with the learning forum team to help develop student success and well being.

Work closely with the West Campus Team to help students transition to Level 1.

Conduct teacher’s evaluation as per the performance review policy.

Participate in the hiring process of teaching and support staff.

Organize grade-level meetings and maintain a permanent communication with parents.

Supervise the assigned department: organize meetings, support, advise, provide guidance, etc.

Work with various constituencies within the School, including Senior School Administration, the Head’s Council, Branch Coordinators, parents, etc. as needed

In the absence of the Principal, the Vice-Principal may be in charge of the School and shall perform the duties of the Principal

Teaching and Learning portfolio 

Implement the academic programme and projects in liaison with the Senior School Leadership Team and the Teaching and Learning Team.

Implement the MYP Community Project and Service as Action throughout the MYP

Ensure assessments for tracking purposes are completed and moderated in line with the assessment policy.

Ensure the effective integration of both the French and Ontarian programs within the MYP framework.

Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning.

Participate in Teaching & Learning meetings.

Implement both initiatives and best practices which will improve the learning experiences offered to our students as well as encourage academic ambition.

Share with teachers best practices, acting as a role model, in order to help them grow in their chosen field.

Drive the implementation of the procedure on student progress.

Manage student progress for Level I to Level ll and communicate the relevant information to the concerned staff members so that they can support the students in their academic aspirations.

Hold a university degree in education and certification as a teacher

Have several years of teaching experience, preferably in the intermediate-secondary level

Hold the Director's qualifications or be enrolled in this training program. Previous experience in a management team would be an asset.

Extensive knowledge of the IB MYP program and experience of the French curriculum as well as Common Core knowledge, skills and culture (Cycle 3 & 4) and the Ontario curriculum

Master up-to-date knowledge in teaching and the usage of new technologies

Thorough understanding of the needs of grade 8 and 9 Students

Work collaboratively with administrators and teaching staff

Be able to inspire trust and confidence in working with members of the School community and effectively communicate the mission of TFS

Be committed to a dynamic of continuous professional development

Have excellent communication skills
