At Quails' Gate, great wine starts in the vineyard. We take that same thinking when sourcing ingredients at Old Vines Restaurant, supporting local farmers, and consciously selecting the best our region has to offer. Our philosophy is of fresh simplicity: the menu is inspired by regional Okanagan and West Coast ingredients prepared in the classical tradition. In addition, as a winery restaurant, wine is always a key starting point when a new dish is being developed at Old Vines Restaurant.

Eager for a summer culinary adventure? Old Vines Restaurant at Quails Gate Estate Winery is searching for a talented Seasonal Catering Sous Chef to join our esteemed culinary team. This opportunity is perfect for ambitious chefs eager to leave their imprint on the upscale food scene of the Okanagan. The chosen candidate will oversee culinary offerings at The Market and contribute to menu creation and execution for various events, from intimate gatherings, and vineyard dinners to corporate functions.

You are passionate about your craft and eager to learn and advance your career You are approachable and looking to grow your leadership skills You are a storyteller and understand that all food and wine have a story to tell regarding its terroir and its journey from the earth to the table You excel in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment You are detail-oriented – knowing that the difference between something good and something great is in the details You are a good communicator and possess good time management and organizational skills You have a positive attitude and are willing to learn new techniques

Requirements

Successful completion of a formal chef training program & interprovincial Red Seal Food Safe Certificate 4+ years of cooking experience in a fine dining establishment Experience servicing large catering functions Wine and food pairing knowledge The flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays Ability to work under pressure in an efficient and safe manner
