How you will contribute as part of the TRCA team:

The Education Interpreter delivers hands-on environmental, cultural heritage, nature, recreation, and renewable energy programs (dependent on location) to visitors and visitor groups of TRCA/partner sites and facilities, as well potentially at client sites. The Education Interpreter plays an active role in customer experience ensuring all visitors have a positive experience.

Major Responsibilities:

Learns program content to be able to effectively deliver interactive programs to various audiences. Ensures program equipment/supplies including artifacts are well maintained, clean and stored appropriately. Provides support in program development and administrative tasks as required. Educates BCPV’s summer visitors by facilitating visitor/animal interaction in a livestock-focused activity area that uses heritage breed animals to illustrate the story of the Toronto region. Delivers Livestock interactive programs for members of the public. Supports daily animal care regimes and assists with animal behavior management.

What will you need to succeed:

Education (degree/diploma/certifications/licenses)

Minimum pursuing a post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field.

Experience

Demonstrates basic-level knowledge of heritage breed livestock animals and their typical care regimens.

Knowledge/Skill/Ability - Competencies

Ability to deliver programs/information to audiences of various ages, adapting style to ensure audience appropriateness. Ability to communicate effectively with tact and courtesy. Experience interacting and connecting with persons of various social, cultural, or economic backgrounds; at ease with a variety of audiences. Strong communication skills to provide clear and concise communication in both non-emergency and emergency situations. Able to self-manage workload and prioritize tasks independently. Demonstrates responsiveness to internal and external customer requests and needs. Able to comprehend written documentation and procedural guidelines. Must be flexible to work all required shifts, including weekends and holidays.
