The Role The Instructor's role is to professionally manage the learning process of the students and to ensure that students achieve established learning objectives to the maximum of their potential. The instructor is to make use of any and all available resources, methods, techniques and strategies, to ensure student success. The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to create a learning environment which is pedagogically sound, technically supported and innovative in nature.We are currently building our talent pool for potential Online Asynchronous ( Student Self-paced) opportunities during the 2024-2025 Academic Year. These courses are held within our Learner Management System, fully online, and do not have any scheduled facilitation components to them. For a full list of SAIT's current courses and program areas, please visit the SAIT Website (Online Asynchronous courses are identified as "Online" under the Delivery Options column): Note: Courses are not guaranteed; successful candidates will only be contacted if a teaching opportunity becomes available.

During the engagement, instructors are responsible for:

Presenting lessons, lectures, assignments, quizzes, exams, lab activities and lab demonstrations for learners if applicable given the course outline Maintaining records for the purposes of grading, assessing professionalism and tracking attendance in both theory and lab classes if given the course outline Managing the classroom or lab to ensure a positive learning environment Showing personal interest in the learner and create a climate conducive to optimal learning Providing on-going support, guidance and advice to students Attending all SAIT training as required Demonstrating achievement of School initiatives and Objectives Being an active and engaged member of the School Adhering to all safety legislation, guidelines and safety standards as required Maintaining contact with relevant industry sectors All other duties as required for the position

Qualifications

Minimum post-secondary education in a related field, from a recognized post-secondary institution 2+ years of relevant field experience A combination of education and work experience may be considered, depending on the program requirements Additional professional certifications may be required as per the program requirements Previous facilitation experience considered an asset Potential Professional Designations Power Engineering - 4th Class ABSA Certification or higher Project Management - PMP Designation Trades (Electrical, Carpentry, etc.) - Red Seal Journeyperson Certification Medical Laboratory Assistant - CMLTA or CMLTS Certification, and must hold a valid practice permit Oil and Gas, and Pipeline - PEng Certification considered an asset Additional Instructor Qualifications Have strong attention to detail in written communication Ability to organize and present written information Fluent in English reading and vocabulary Positive & respectful attitude Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Team player – easy to collaborate and work with Experience and fluency with Office 365 (MS Word, Outlook and PowerPoint) Experience with videoconferencing technology (MS Teams, WebX, Skype or Zoom) Keen eye for detail with a continuous desire to uphold quality and current standards Well-developed presentation and communication skills (written and oral) Innovative mindset and desire to make long term lasting improvements Ability to take a firm stand on important issues, yet be empathetic to the needs of students and the work team Basic computer skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel Demonstrated excellent interpersonal skills Customer service focus and strong relationship building skills A sense of humor and an ability to have fun while getting things done Job Location: Calgary, ABJob classification: Adjunct Instructor# of positions: MultiplePosting closing date: September 01, 2024Position end date: August 31, 2025
